Always read the labels some cheaper brands will add things to it, like sugar. If you decide to try matcha, be picky about what you purchase. Matcha simply makes me alert and awake, but never with the jittery anxiety producing effects I would experience from coffee. The caffeine that comes from matcha reacts with my body and brain SO differently than caffeine that comes from coffee. I quit coffee and all caffeine several years ago and I stayed off it til I felt like my body recalibrated itself (this took several months and was really quite a hard process). Soar matcha is a little course and the latte is better with sugar. They all fall perfectly into an affordable price point for everyday drinking. My go to matcha for matcha latte are unsweetened ito en from Amazon, soar Organics, and Rishi matcha. If they have decent matcha, this usually yields good results What I tell a barista: Iced matcha latte with double matcha and a short pour no sugar. The hard parts: matcha on an empty stomach makes me a little nauseous (whole milk solves this, oat milk and substitutes don’t), good matcha is expensive, good matcha latte is hard to describe to baristas and hard to find while traveling. Benefits: No anxiety No crash Not hyper Doesn’t mess up my digestion, My favorite flavor on planet earth Fun easy routineĮach Tsp of matcha is 40-60mg of caffeine so two tsp is equal to around 1 cup of coffee, which I believe ranges from 90-120 mg of caffeine. I make an iced matcha latte every day with 2tsp matcha whisked with a tiny bit of hot water, while milk, ice, and 1.5 tsp sugar (or no sugar if the matcha is good). ![]() ![]() My experience is that coffee makes me wired, anxious, chest pain, angrier, speeds up digestion, just all around unpleasant (but I like the taste) Been doing this for more than a few years now. ![]()
